How We Serve
We distribute food based on nutritional guidelines, family size, special dietary needs and availability of provisions. The Food Pantry provides a variety of items from nonperishable food and goods to perishable items like frozen meat, fresh milk and produce. There is also a high demand for baby products, so formula, diapers and hygiene products are available as well.
We stock our shelves through a variety of sources:
- Purchases, especially through SHARE Wisconsin
- Food Recovery Program
Day-to-day Food Pantry operations are supported entirely by generous and dedicated volunteers. A volunteer Board of Directors governs the Food Pantry and works closely with the Hunger Task Force in Milwaukee and the Waukesha County Nutrition Coalition to gather additional resources.
Our staff then oversees all operations, including: raising food and funds, fiduciary responsibilities, donor database management, volunteer recruitment/coordination, and administration of government food programs. The staff is also responsible for purchasing food, tracking inventory and adhering to strict safety regulations.
