2025 In Review: Rising Demand for Pantry Support


The FOOD Pantry is entering its 48th year of serving Waukesha County residents facing food insecurity.  As a non-profit organization, we are grateful that we continue to play a critical role in supporting families and individuals throughout our community who are facing food insecurity. Primarily due to the rising costs of living, the need for food assistance has never been greater in our community. We are grateful to our food pantry supporters, volunteers, and partners, who make it possible for us to meet this increasing demand.

A Growing Need: 2025 in Numbers

In 2025, we continued to experience an ongoing increase in the number of individuals and families turning to The FOOD Pantry Serving Waukesha County for support. The following statistics demonstrate this growing demand:

  • Total Households Served: We provided assistance to 3,568 unduplicated households with a total of 38,639 service visits.  For comparison purposes, in 2021 we provided assistance to 1,968 unduplicated households with a total of 18,085 service visits.  
  • Individual Pantry Visits:  The FOOD Pantry provided food to support 111,733 individual pantry visits in 2025.  For comparison purposes, in 2021, the pantry provided food for 45,131 individual pantry visits or an increase of 148%.
  • Individuals Impacted: The FOOD Pantry served 9,399 unduplicated individuals.  Of those served, 31% were children and 14% were seniors, demonstrating the rising number of vulnerable individuals experiencing food insecurity.
  • New Clients: The FOOD Pantry enrolled 1,353 new client households.  For comparison purposes, in 2021 the Pantry enrolled 487 new households or an increase of 178%.
  • Clients Served per Distribution Day:  In 2025, The FOOD Pantry served an average of 124 families each distribution day.
  • Expenditures on Food:  In 2025, The FOOD Pantry purchased $312,300 in food to support client distribution.

These statistics are a sobering reminder that food insecurity is a pressing issue in Waukesha County. However, with the support of our community, we can tackle food insecurity in Waukesha County and be a source of hope to our county residents facing food insecurity.
